Coupe Absinthe Glass

$18

These reproduction glasses are among the most interesting antique absinthe glasses. Although they resemble French champagne glasses, this style was originally made specifically for use with absinthe.

Our Coupe absinthe glasses are made in the same proportions as the original glasses, including their reservoir. The reservoir is the area used to measure the amount of absinthe to be used. It was intended to aid the bartender in a bar setting by knowing the correct amount of absinthe to pour, and it helped the customer know it was an honest pour. The reservoir size generally correlates with the size of the glass being used. The reservoir measures 25 ml (.8 oz), the standard amount for an absinthe glass of this size. The ratio of water to absinthe depends on the preparer's preference but is typically 1 part absinthe to 3 - 5 parts water.
